Times

There are so many things my life longs to engage; yet, all of these things change or are incapable of change when needed. People grow and forget the past, though the past is all I have to hold onto. Things become new things and make new memories. Will these new memories serve as a way for my old life to ebb away?

Hope. I will hope for the pain of loneliness to escape these bones. Faith. I will have faith that life will get better. Love. I will hold onto the love so willingly given to me despite from so faraway.

Time is running against me. Is that the end I see in the distance?

A Proper Thank You

I have not taken the time to thank all whom have commented on my blog. So, my thanks to all who have commented on my blog.

Turns out that the fundraiser was not on Sunday. My mother was half asleep when she answered the phone to write down the times this lady rode. Ah well. These hours are hard on my poor mother. She sleeps nearly all day now, and has to keep awake all night. She says as soon as she finds a better (timed) job she will switch, if she can.

As for the horses… We were worried for a short time about Rosie. She seemed to have urinated a bit of blood; well, there was a small about of a blood like liquid in the spot she pees. I checked on her all night and she is fine. There was/is not blood under her tail, on her legs, in her stall, and she is acting perfectly normal. We will have to establish a vet here so we can call if need be. Now Flag could not be left out of the action, so he ripped his front right shoe off and is lame. We cannot ride, obviously, and to top things off our farrier just moved to California. I am going out later to buy him some hoof supplements and a boot (any suggestions for boot type or supplements???) to keep on this foot. Grr to horses who get hurt.

Take care all,

A Race To Remember

I was bothered by my grammatical errors on this thing until someone reminded me that a blog is not a thesis paper. True, true. So I will continue to updating through encouragement.

I just saw the Preakness. Way to go Afleet Alex! He was coming up for the lead and (my personal pick) Scrappy T jumped sideways into him. Both jockeys nearly came off and Afleet Alex went to his knees, just to come back for a 4-¾-length win. It was exciting. *phew*

Other than that I am waiting for a phone call. Oh and tomorrow we are going to go see a top level (gold medallists is it?) dressage fundraiser. We met this woman at a laundry mat washing her horses blanket who will be riding. ‘K well…more later.

Woes

Is it really already May 20th? Time has flown, in some ways, this year. Seems like just a few weeks ago

was sitting in some persons house at midnight ready to welcome the New Year. Yet, nearly half the year has slipped away, as I said before “in some ways”. Among “not in some ways” is my missing Texas so much, and not being able to attend Cornell. I worked my rear off to finish enough school so I could go this summer, what a pain…

Yesterday we took the horses to the vet. This guy, unknown to us, only does vaccinations and no emergencies. So we are now in the search of a new, all-around vet we can call if ever our horses play stupid again. Rosie tried to yesterday. Yes, I think I will tell you all.

I wanted to bathe both the horses because they both were nasty from the winter. So I tied them to the trailer and had already finished with Rosie and was rinsing Flag’s suds off. Something, who knows what, spooked Flag and he jumped back and started a little bit to pull back. Then Rosie started. The difference between Rosie and Flag in this regard is when Flag feels the pressure from his halter he stops pulling but as soon as Rosie feels the pressure she freaks out and pulls harder. So he had stopped and she was going nuts. Her lead rope finally brook and smacked me is the face, not too badly, and she was loose in the “big world” again. Thank goodness Flag did not get loose, because then they both would be loose and run off, and to top matters I would have been alone. So I quickly untied Flag and so he could would stop trying to break his halter and join her. Rosie being Rosie, as so many of you know, stopped as soon as she saw grass and noticed Flag was not right behind her. The problem was when the lead snapped he kept going back and she fell back onto he hindquarters. Her back, right and parts of her left leg have no hair left. She got bad road rash from her stupidity. She is however OK, and will heal completely.

Now for the house, the only things changed is the stucco has been finished, and all the appliances and cabinets are there, but not installed yet.

Thar you go. Did you enjoy reading yet again about my horsies and little pities? Love to all!

sweaty times

Yesterday I went for a ride with Flag. It was the first day that I did not lounge him before I got on, and we were doing ok. I had set up the jumps and was warming up so we could jump but the pony only wanted to go fast. He was shacking his head and trotting in place, really ready to go fast. For example when we cantered if it was not in a circle it would have been too fast for our little pasture I was riding in, really it was a slow gallop. When we got too fast it took almost all my arm strength to make him trot again. Anyways, he was full of, as Gloria used to say, “piss and vinegar”. I finely got tired of this attitude and let him fast canter in a circle until he wanted to stop, but then kept him going. On the left lead we went in lots of circles for 3-4 minutes nonstop. He got sweaty; unlike he has since we moved here. I lost my right stirrup so I was a tiny bit sore too. Yay for horsie bath time! We did not end up jumping, so I can do that today granted he is not so full of himself.

Last night we also had Kung fu. It was different than any other class. The school is moving to a new location so the inside was all torn up and we had to do class outside with different people. There is an exercise that we do on occasion called push hands. It is a soft exercise that is from Tai Chi where you have soft, slow contact with the other person’s arms all the time. I got to work with one of the more advanced students, and it was so nice. His arms started to get tired and he asked me if mine were too. No, they were fine. It is a proud moment (in a strange, maybe bad way) in that my arms are getting stronger due to riding and working on the fence. Good day to all.

Long days

So far this whole week we have gone out to work on the fence. I am sick of welding and grinding posts. Anywho... Today the hard wood floors were finished. It looks nice, really nice. Also today, I got my grade back for the Spanish exam. I did pass, in fact I somehow got an A. I am glad it is over. My father is watching a show called 24. The season is supposed to be one 24-hour period, so one show is one hour of this day, but this show is really bad. I mean in the first hour there might be a bunch or terrorists invading a town and then next hour the same terrorists have a nuclear weapon from the US and have shot down Air Force One. It makes me mad because some people might think that our military/security really sucks this much. It is just nuts. Thought I would throw that out there. I suppose I will go read until mi amor calls. Take care.

House update

Yesterday was a nice day. We did not have to go work, nor did we strain at anything in the house. Though our fun is about to expire; work is waiting for us today. Only half a day of school will get done, but I think that is okay this time. We are going to Home Dept to rent a Jackhammer called “The Whacker” so we can dig out holes for our "custom made" (by us) round pen. This pen is going to help make up part of the side, alone the driveway, of the fence. Once the round pen posts are set the entire front pasture posts will be set and nearly ready for painting and wire stretching. Everyone needs to come see our new place. I am excited about how the house, fence, and (thoughts of) barn are going along. For the house there is texture on the walls, paint on the walls, closets assembled (shelves and dowels), and tile in the bathrooms. Next the border and doors will be painted and put into place, then the hardwood floors and cabinets will be put in, then the carpet and final touches…like hardware for the doors and appliances will be set up. They say the move in date is about 50-60 days away. Oh, got to go. Work!

Kung Fu

Tonight is kung fu. I did not have enough time to go for a ride today, but I will tomorrow. At martial arts I am going to ask sifu Jeff if I can test soon. I have learned all the hand forms for my next level. This school has much much more that students have to memorize for belts. I have my white sash and am going for “dragon patch”, a little patch that goes on the left leg. It is the next level, going to yellow sash. In Waco I loved the school and the people. Here the people are nice, but not as close to me as H.O.T. self defense academy students/instructors. My brother has already received his dragon patch, and has learned the broadsword and staff form (required for yellow sash). He helps me on the sets I will test on (Five animal or crossfist, Lo Hon Chin, Hungar Tiger, and Young Tiger), each have 50-100 moves. Well, we must go soon so I will update later.

So it is now later, class went well and I am to test next weekend. I miss my love tonight. Curse you study week!!!

the good, the bad, and the ugly

So, I have been reminded many times to “update my blog”. I warn anyone reading this to be weary; I had a good day so you just might get an earful. Today started out somnolent. After I had completed an amount of work I decided it was too handsome a day to pass up riding my horse. Though you must understand I have ridden the past four days, (Yay for me, I know) and my steed was not a bit happy to have another work out. Well, I just stared longingly at the jumps because I have jumped on the poor fellow the past two days. We have worked back up to 2’ 6”, and I am thinking we should start trying for 2’ 8” soon. But alas, today was a dressage day for us. He is getting better at collecting when I ask, but not quite keeping his head steady (mostly I am at fault I am sure), where as before we moved he was going along like a nice little dressage pony. Because he gave me his almost best I let him graze in the front yard for some minutes. Then I came back in and thought of all the work I needed to get done and was disheartened. This made me procrastinate for a bit of time, but I did eventually extend some exertion on the job I have as a student. My mother and I watched the 5 o’clock local news and saw many sad events that had taken place today and last night. The news is not worth the odium it stores in me, though it is nice at times to know what the goings-on are in my city and country. One story has had an effect my thoughts more than the others. http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/05/09/dead.girls/index.html I do not care what a child of this age does they do not deserve this death, nor do their parents deserve to witness their child’s demise. Why do people use death as a weapon? To instill fear in others hearts and these kids were just easy targets? Or is it some sick addiction of seeing helpless children die they seek? If this ever happened to my future children or friends of mine I would personally make sure the one(s) to hold accountable of the heinous crime would never see day again. More death and pain is all I heard on the news and it makes me ill. These things that are mentioned over the television and radio make me really think about my place in this world. I want to help people, but practicing medicine in not a particular interest of mine, so I will need to look at what I could do to fulfill my desire. Enough about that, huh? Okay.

Sorry!

As there are more people who read this than I knew, I was foolish to publish a past blog that I did. So I deleted it and want to say sorry to all I might have offended... Sorry!

Exams...argh.

Oh yeah, I took my Spanish exam...and English. I think I might have failed Spanish. Heh, we will see.

later... I got my grade back for English, it says I got a 90% on the exam.

Primero de mayo

Howdy! Today is a cold day. There is over an inch of snow sticking on the ground, wait let me check my calendar..../ Yes, it is May. Huh.

We are building fence today, if it is at all possible. We will see...

I miss riding, this whole week has been snow and freezing rain, so not much riding has gone on. Ah well. Last time I rode it was still a bit wet on the ground, so I go on Flag bareback and walk around, he took such good care of me. I love that horse. He is becoming the next Dusty, maybe he will be there by the time he is 27!

I am going to have to start pulling Flag to places by myself, I am scared about pulling that trailer alone though. On the plus side, Flag and I will get to go to lots of fun things!

Take care all, I miss you all.
